About the event
Some of the practices we will be doing:
Mindful Movements
10 mindful movements practised by Thich Nhat Hanh. They’re slow stretches suitable for all ages.
Mindful Walking
Done meditatively at a relatively slower pace, but not super slow like vipassana’s (formal) walking meditation. It’s the way monks and nuns were trained to walk by the Buddha so they are mindful and connected to the elements around them, opening the ‘eyes of dharma and Interbeing’; fusing one’s consciousness to the dharmadhatu (dharma realm). Today, it is still a way of life walked by monastics of the Theravada forest and Mahayana traditions.
The Japanese extracted part of it from the Mahayana tradition and rebranded it as Forest Bathing.
Qigong Meditation
The end of qigong is the birth of tai chi.
Meditation and/or slow movements:
A way of cultivating qi through breathwork and movements involving neigong (internal martial arts) to harmonise breath, body and mental fortitude.
Foundational Explosive movements to expel 废气 (exhausted energy) from the body. Derived from:
Traditional qigong
南拳(nanquan; Southern fist)
虎鹤双形 (tiger-crane fist)
