About the event
As the corporate world revs up post pandemic, this day-long retreat is the perfect antidote to the burnout and mental overwhelm many of us now accept as a way of life. We’re holding the retreat right in the heart of the CBD to show weary corporate warriors that peace and stillness is possible even in the hectic and challenging work environments they face every day.
Through the practice of mindfulness and meditation, you will learn how to manage your mind instead of your mind managing you! You will also discover how to access positive states of wellbeing that already exist within you, anytime, anywhere. This understanding opens the door for less reactive and more effective outcomes in daily life.
Under the guidance of The Hermitage’s founder and former monk, Dhammakamo 'DK', you will learn how to apply ancient wisdom and scientifically proven practices to your present life circumstances. DK customises each retreat to the unique needs of the group to ensure a rich and personalised learning experience. Booked months in advance by companies like Google and Linkedin, DK is well-known to expound insightful talks and profound meditation experiences without using any scripts. We hope you make good use of this opportunity.
You will surrender your phones at the start of the day and will be guided and nourished through a series of teachings, group meditations and plenty of me-time for personal reflection. DK will be teaching Zen and Insight Meditation (samatha-vipassana), a practice over 2600 years old proven to be an effective way of transforming the mind and experiencing a deep enjoyment of the present moment.
There will be different forms of mindfulness and meditation practices taught, such as sitting, walking, body scan and mindful eating, that can be applied throughout a regular work day. That's not all! As DK is known to tailor his teachings on the spot, he might even teach you some hacks to boost your energy!
These retreats have proven to be deeply insightful and helpful for our past participants in learning how to navigate their lives with less overwhelm and a greater sense of wellbeing. There is no meditation experience necessary.
So pull up your to-do list, block off 19th August 2022 and join us in this bold movement to bring zen into the city!
You may wonder, why Friday? That's exactly the point. Your next work meeting should be with Peace and Calm :).
Testimonials:
“It was such a rich and powerful experience that left me tinkering with the idea of “how to incorporate mindfulness in my day to day work”. As an in-house lawyer my days are stressful as they are. However, going to the retreat made me think that my industry (pharma) lends itself to a rich mindfulness experience. It’s a start of a journey and I am grateful that DK helped the team kick it off and experience meditation and mindfulness firsthand.”

"This was a very unique session that blended mindfulness and nudged us to explore and initiate into self-awareness practice. In our busy lives and schedules of work and life, this session helped the team pause and reflect on the journey of re-discovering happiness and inner calm."

"Simply put, I thoroughly enjoyed the 1 day retreat. I really felt that you were very non-judgmental and compassionate. You understood that people could not sit for long hours without twitching, stretching and allowed for that without any judgment! In a couple of the retreats I had attended in the past, such transgressions was pointed out as inability to focus or control one's own mind & body - almost as if it was our fault and something was missing within us! You never made us feel that way. You did not force your views in anyway and allowed for us to feel whatever came up. And most importantly for me, your personal story really resonated with me and gave me a sense of hope that the teachings could also apply to someone like me!"
